Tianjin Port
 
Tianjin Port, located 5 km to the southeast, is the second largest general port in China, inferior to Shanghai port. Its handling capacity of foreign trade and export volume ranks the second and first respectively in port industry of the mainland of China. Tianjin Port has become a port with the most complete functions and fastest development in China. In Dec. 1997, the service quality system of passenger and cargo transport of the port passed identification of ISO9002-GB/T19002 standard by BSI Company in Britain and Chinese ship's classification, which become the first one having both national and international identification.

The hinterland of Tianjin port Covers Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Shan'xi, Shanxi, Gansu and Qinghai Provinces, Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang Uger and Ningxia Autonomous Regions and Tibet as well as parts of Henan, Sichuan and Shandong Provinces. Among the imports and exports going through Tianjin Port, 50% are from Tianjin, 20% from Beijing, 12% from Hebei Province and 18% from other parts. Most of the goods from Hebei are concentrated at the bordering belt between Beijing and Tianjin. Jingjintang Expressway that runs across Beijing, Hebei, Tianjin, TEDA and Tianjin Port has formed a famous high-tech corridor in North China and a focus of foreign investment.

 
Tianjin Port has trade with more than 400 ports from 180 countries and regions in the world. At present 47 regular container vessel lines and nearly 200 world container-shipping lines are operating at Tianjin Port. It has been one of the transportation hubs of containers. Tianjin port covers almost 200 square kilometers, and is accessible for 70,000-100,000 tons vessels. Its has more than 140 berths and 16 container berths, and an annual handling capacity of 4.8 million TEUs.
Navigation Channel: two-way navigation depth of 12 meters below sea level.

Container Terminal: 16 berths, annual handling capacity of 1 million TEUs, large loading bridge with a stretching arm of 44 meters

Coal Dock: 6 berths, annual handling capacity of 20 million tons

Bulk Grain Dock: 2 berths, annual handling capacity of 3.5 million tons

Fertilizer Dock: bulk fertilizer dock

Non-mineral-ore Dock: 35,000 tons non-metal-ore berth at Nanjiang Dock

Mineral Ore Dock: 100,000 tons, a berth that is 403 meters long, frontier part of the dock is 16.5 meters below sea level

Passengers Dock: 30,000 tons passenger berth, domestic lines to Dalian, Yantai and Longkou, world lines to Kobe and Incheon.

Oil Dock at Nanjiang: 3 petro berths, annual handling capacity of 10 million tons

Char Berth at Nanjiang: 50,000 tons

Coal Berth at Nanjiang: 35,000 tons and 50,000 tons special berths put into operation in 2001

Prospect
By 2010 Tianjin Port is expected to develop into a 300-million ton international port. Its container handling capacity will exceed 10 million TEUs. It will construct 16 deep-water berths that can load the sixth generation container vessels, a 100,000-ton mineral ore and oil dock, a 100,000-ton deep-water navigation channel and the largest bulk cargo logistics center in North China covering 12 km2.
