Application for a business visa
I. Business visa types

  1. Visiting Visa Valid For Once (F):
    Aimed at foreigners coming to China temporarily for trade and business. The applying enterprise may decide the retention period of the applicant's stay in China according to the needs of work. The term of validity of this visa is 90 days.
  2. Visiting Visa Valid For Multiple Times (F):
    Aimed at foreigners who need to come to China many times for trade and business during one period of time. The applying enterprise may apply visiting visa for twice or more according to the needs of work. The term of validity of this visa is 180 days.
  3. Residence Visa Valid For One Year (Z):
    Expats who come to work for long-term in foreign-invested enterprises or representative organizations in Beijing may transact this visa with the Representative Card (Employee's card) of foreign enterprises representative originations in Beijing and the Employment Permission License issued by Beijing Labour Bureau.
  4. Port Visa (Landing Visa):
    Foreigners, who come to China for business emergency while do not have time to apply visa in the overseas visa organizations of China may transact this visa in the port visa organization authorized by China's Ministry of Public Security after they have been verified by the Economy and Trade Committee of Beijing.

II. Invitation letter for a business visa

  1. The inviting organization needs to fill in the "Foreign Businessman Visiting Application Report Form" printed unitarily by the Economy and Trade Committee of Beijing. The content should be complete and accurate; the handwriting should be neat and clear (Block Letters should be used in the English part). Person in charge of the economy and trade departments in the related Dist.rict, county or bureau (head office) should sign their remarks and affix their official seals. The importing & exporting companies and the independent exporting companies may apply to the Economy and Trade Committee of Beijing directly. The representative organizations of foreign enterprises and joint ventures should apply through their supervising organization (with authorization).
  2. To transact invitation for visiting visa valid for twice or more for the applicant, the inviting organization needs to fill in the "Foreign Businessman Visiting Application Report Form" and attach a report illustrating reasons, which should have the remarks and official seals of the person in charge of the economy and trade departs in the related Dist.rict, county or bureau (head office). The representative organizations of foreign enterprises and joint ventures should apply through their supervising organization (with authorization).
  3. To transact invitation for working visa for one year's validity for the applicant, the inviting applicant should fill in the "Foreign Businessman Visiting Application Report Form" and attach the photocopies of the applicant's Employment Permission License and the Representative Card (or Employee's Card) of the foreign enterprise's reprehensive organization in Beijing.
  4. To transact invitation for port visa for the applicant, the inviting organization should fill in the "Foreign Businessman Visiting Application Report Form" and attach an illustrating report, which should have the remark and official seals of the person in charge of the related Dist.rict, county or bureau (head office). The representative organizations of foreign enterprises joint ventures should apply through supervising organization (with authorization).

III. Examining and approving procedures for a business visa

  1. The transaction of invitation for Visiting Visa Valid for Once is Examined and approved on the spot.
  2. The transaction of invitation for Visiting Visa Valid for Many Times and Port Visa is examined by the business stuff, and approval by the Foreign Affairs Bureau of Economy and Trade Committee within 1 to 2 working days.
  3. Transaction of visa invitation by fax will take 1 to 2 working days.
  4. Application report not complying with the requirement will not be transacted.
Regulations of work and life of foreign employees
1) Work regulations of foreign employees
In accordance with related Chinese laws and regulations,all foreign employee who need to work in China for over 3 months must apply for working permit and working license.
  • First, the applicant must obtain working permit at Tianjin Personnel Employment Service.

  • Second, the applicant should get working visa from his country's embassy in China.
  • Finally, the applicant should return to Tianjin Personnel Employment Service for the official working license.
    Required documents for working permit£º

  • Report for employing foreign people;
  • Letter of appointment or the warrant;
  • Certificate of personal qualification (including qualification of education background or technology ability);
  • Medical Certificate;
  • Copy of the company's business license;
  • Seal of the company

2) Regulations for forein employees to get residence permit
The applicant should apply for residence permit from TEDA Securities Bureau within 30 days of their entry into Chinese territory. The applicant and his landlord or agent need to register at police stations with the applicant's ID and leasing contract, then go through the formalities with a letter of introduction at Foreign Affairs Section, TEDA Security Bureau.
