Recently Tianjin Morimoto Precision Parts Co., Ltd. held its ground-breaking ceremony in West Zone of TEDA.

With a total investment of 62 million yuan, Tianjin Morimoto Precision Parts Co., Ltd. will occupy an area of about 10,418 m2 and a floor area of around 4,852 m2. Expected to finish its construction in April of 2007, the company will mainly produce mould parts for precision apparatus.

Recently, the West Zone of TEDA witnessed the groundbreaking ceremony of Vestas' nacelle facility, the second project invested by this global wind power giant after its blade project (which has become operational since June 8th this year) here. With a total investment of 19 million euros, the nacelle project is located to the east of the existing blade facility. It will start operation in February, 2007 and is designated mainly for the assembly of nacelles. Besides, Vestas also plans to kick off the generator project and the Phase II for its blade production within the coming two years. These new moves will add Vestas' total investment in TEDA West to 80 million dollars and present a complete industrial chain of wind power generation to the region.

Recently, the opening ceremony of Kennametal China Co.,Ltd. was held in the West Zone of TEDA.

Kennametal is the world' s second largest carbide inserts manufacturer and its global sales totaled US$ 2.8 billion in the year 2005. The new facility of Kennametal in the West Zone of TEDA covers an area of 80,000 square meters. Kennametal' s total investment reaches US$ 70 million and the first phase investment of US$ 31 million is already in place. The new 23, 000 square meter plant will be used to manufacture carbide inserts, drills and wear parts.

It is learned that currently Kennametal' s products are mainly delivered to Asia-Pacific region and throughout the globe and applied in such industries as general machining, automotive, aerospace, mining and new energy.

Recently Cabot Chemical (Tianjin) Co., Ltd. held its opening ceremony in the Chemical Industrial Park of TEDA.

It is learnt that with 60 million dollars of investment in its first phase, the facility of Cabot in Tianjin is expected to have an annual carbon black output of 105,000 tons and a total sales of 650 million yuan, and will have the largest production capacity among the worldwide facilities of Cabot. Meanwhile, its second phase, which has a total investment of 60 million dollars, is being prepared. After the completion of its second phase, the facility will have an annual output of 250,000 tons, an added annual sales of 900 million yuan and the largest carbon black production capacity in the world.

Cabot Corporation from US, a Fortune Global 500 corporation, has taken one-fifth of the market share of China since its entering the Chinese market in 1988.

After signing a 1900-suquare-meter factory building lease contract with the General Corporation of TEDA Micro-electronics Industrial Park, the Tianjin Shengji Bio-Technology Co., Ltd. recently moved into the Park. Boasting an investment density of 1,433 dollars per square meter and highly advanced production techniques of zero waste gas, water and residue emission, the bio company will cause no negative impact on the local environment.Tianjin Shengji Bio-Technology Group was initially founded in 1998 as a privately-owned applied bio-technology company, mainly engaging in the R&D, production and marketing of animal health drugs, feedstuff additives and aqua-cultural products. As the owner of 24 state-level and municipal-level patents, this hi-tech company is the business partner of many large-scale culture farms and supplies over 300 types of products (11 categories, ranging from micro-organic preparations, powders, oral solutions to premixes) to over 6,000 clients in 30 provinces, cities and autonomous regions throughout China. It works out dozens of new products on an annual basis and its R&D center has been elected as one of the municipal-level R&D entities in Tianjin.

Gome Home Appliances opens a store on the 3rd Avenue of TEDA on Aug. 25. It is the first large store of home appliance in TEDA and the first store of Gome in TEDA, The store mainly sells high-end new or upcoming products which may reflect the development trend of an industry. The store covers an area of around 3,000 m2. The area and the number of employees are based on  its daily reception of 1,000 customers.

The head of the headquarters of Gome Home Appliances in Tianjin introduced that the development pattern of the Gome store in TEDA is different from other Gome stores. The establishment of the store is a strategic step taken by Gome in view of the development of TEDA and the Tianjin New Coastal District.

TEDA Taisen Community Center is located in the intersection of the 1st Avenue and Caohu Road and covers a floor area of 10,057 m2. It contains banks, an underground grocery market, a supermarket, a clinic, a gymnasium, a bookstore, a laundry, etc. and will be put to use in mid-September.

It is learnt that the idea of setting community centers originates from Singapore. In essence, it is a market with various residential service facilities. TEDA Taisen Community Center is situated in the intersection of the 1st Avenue and Caohu Road, the central part of such new residential communities as Hongtai Garden, Yixinyuan, etc. With Area A and Area B, three overground floors and one underground floor, and a total floor area of 10,057 m2, the center contains varied service sections such as a large-scale grocery market, a supermarket for articles of everyday use, a community clinic, a senior citizens' center, a legal consultancy agency, a gymnasium, banks, an AV shop, a laundry, etc. It is a large residential facility for shopping, leisure, and community activities.

It is learned that such community centers break the traditional business pattern of forming markets along streets in communities; instead shops are placed in centers of communities. In this way, it not only solves the conflicts between residential buildings and shops along streets, catering and entertainment facilities in particular, but provides convenience to residents.

According to the comprehensive appraisal just released by the Ministry of Commerce of China on the investment environment of state-level development zones in 2005, TEDA has once again retained its first position among its peers. Before that TEDA had topped the list for eight years continuously.

As shown by the comprehensive appraisal, TEDA has ranked first with a total score of 758.93 in terms of comprehensive indicators. It is learnt that the comprehensive indicator is based on such eight indicators as economic strength, supporting capacity of infrastructure, operation costs, human resources and supply, society and environment, environment for technological innovation, software environment for investment, and development and efficiency. TEDA is the only development zone having its seven indicators within top ten, of which such five indicators of TEDA rank first as overall economic strength, support capacity of infrastructure, human resources and supply, environment for technological innovation, and institutional building.
