With a total investment of 240 million yuan, Asymchem Life Science (Tianjin) Co., Ltd. held its foundation stone laying ceremony in TEDA a few days ago.

Asymchem Life Science (Tianjin) Co., Ltd. will focus on the research and development of new drug technologies and research, development, and production of high-tech pharmaceutical raw material and relevant products. With an area of 100,000 square meters, the new factory will be an important support for the company to establish itself as an industrial base for raw medicines and pharmaceutical intermediates up to the cGMP international quality norms. The construction of the new factory is scheduled into two phases. Phase I will be completed for official production commencement either at the end of this year or at the beginning of next year and the company is expected to accomplish an output value of 200 million to 300 million yuan by 2007. Then, all of the construction of phase II of the new factory will be completed within 2007 and 2008 with an investment of another 100 million yuan, so hopefully the company will have a total output value of more than one billion yuan by 2010.

Asymchem entered Tianjin TEDA International Incubator in 1999. Supported by the Regulations to promote hi-tech industry of TEDA, Asymchem has turned itself within a few years from a small enterprise that possessed a few technologies into a large-scale company of research, development, and production that possesses more than one hundred sophisticated techniques and hundreds of professional talents. The construction commencement of its new factory indicates a further growth of TEDA´s self-innovative enterprises represented by Asymchem and a greater enhancement of the regional scientific and technological innovation capacity.

The inauguration ceremony for the new factory building of Lohmann Adhesive Tape Technologies Tianjin Co., Ltd. (LTTT) was held in TEDA a few days ago. Headquartered in Neuwied, Germany, Lohmann Group was established in 1851 focusing on two-sided industrial adhesive tapes applied in such areas as mobile telephones, automobiles, household appliances, construction, printing, packaging, and medical care. The company can handle various adhesive tape processings including coating, slitting, and die cutting. In 2002, Lohmann Group established in TEDA Lohmann Adhesive Tape Technologies Tianjin Co., Ltd. as its first subsidiary in Asia. The new factory building of LTTT was completed in October of 2005 with an area of 26,800 square meters. The company had a capital increase along with the construction of the new factory building to increase its registered capital up to 4.6 million euros and its total investment to 11.5 million euros. Besides, the company introduced from Germany a large coating line to greatly enhance its production capacity.

TEDA Citizen Plaza, the landmark building of the core zone of Tianjin New Coastal District, will be open to the public on October 1. By now the main part of phase I of the plaza, the comprehensive commercial pedestrian street, has been completed and is now under interior and exterior decoration. The construction of phase II, the modern residential area, was commenced yesterday.

Covering 150,000 square meters with a total floorage of 540,000 square meters, TEDA Citizen Plaza lies in the core of the CBD of TEDA with Xin Chengdong Street to the east, Xin Chengxi Street to the west, No. 4 Street to the south, and the 1st Avenue to the north. The Jinbin light rail, the prospective streetcar system, and Beijing-Tianjin Intercity Railway will all join each other here.

With a floorage of 200,000 square meters and a total investment of 1.6 billion yuan, phase I of TEDA Citizen Plaza consists of a tower as a sail and a group of houses as the vessel to make it look like a sailing vessel with the implication of "a large vessel out on a journey". TEDA Citizen Plaza is of the world´s latest way of design with the pedestrian street as the axis and totally transparent public spaces surrounded by hierarchic glass walls on both sides to form a comprehensive metropolitan interior pedestrian street immune from climatic influence to make TEDA Citizen Plaza the largest commercial center of the New Coastal District.

The 12th French-Chinese Economic Symposium (hereinafter referred to as the Symposium) was solemnly held in Renaissance Tianjin TEDA Hotel a few days ago. The keynote of the Conference was "Energy and Sustainable Development", which is a profound topic to both French and Chinese development as well as a core issue of today's world. China will become the world's largest country of consumption and production. At present China has a rapid economic growth and a relatively low energy consumption per capita. Therefore it is of great significance to discuss the issue of "energy and sustainable development" at the Symposium.

The 12th French-Chinese Economic Symposium was jointly hosted by China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), Tianjin Municipal Government, and China-France Committee (CFC), and held by CFC and TEDA Administrative Commission. CCPIT and CFC have cooperated in holding the French-Chinese Economic Symposium in China once a year since 1995 to promote the economic and trade interchange between France and China. By now it has been successfully held for 11 times. The Symposium covers a number of areas such as state-owned enterprise transformation, energy development trends and environment protection, space utility, bullet train, intellectual property right, housing reform, financial service, urban transformation and development, and communication R&D and innovation. The governments and the business circles of both countries have attached great importance and made enthusiastic response to the Symposium to make it a very effective and by far the largest economic and trade activity in the economic and trade circles of the two countries.

Representatives from the leading personnel of such famous French enterprises in energy, environment, and aircraft manufacturing as the Areva Group, Total, Alstom, Veolia Environment, and European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company EADS N.V.attended the 12th French-Chinese Economic Symposium.

This is a second time that Binhai Mass Transit will prolong its night service hours in order to facilitate the public's trips and workers of the New Coastal District who work overtime. As is known, after this extension, Jinbin Light Rail will have a total service time of 14.5 hours a day, from 6:30 am to 9:00 pm. The departure times between 6:30 am and 8:00 pm stay unchanged, and trains depart at a tentative interval of 20 minutes between 8:00 pm to 9:00 pm. According to a relevant person in charge at Binhai Mass Transit, they will further optimize their service according to the change of passenger flow and passenger demands.
