With an area of 19,000 square meters, this center is established by Taiding (Tianjin) Environment Technology Co., Ltd. with an investment of RMB100 million. It is expected that the construction will be completed before the end of this year, and that the center will be put to trial operations next March and official operations, next June. It will be the largest electronic waste processing and recycling base in North China with an annual comprehensive utilization capacity of 30,000 tons. From now on, all electronic waste from Tianjin and the North China will gradually be gathered at this center for harmless treatment and recycling of waste. Data shows that a minimum of over 30,000 tons of electronic waste is produced in Tianjin every year with industrial electronic waste and household electronic waste respectively taking up 50% of the total.
With the rapid growth of the electronic and information industry and upgrading of electronic and information products, large quantities of such products including computers, televisions, and refrigerators in China are now subject to scrapping, yet there is no such well-established recycling system available in China as in those developed countries such as European countries, US, and Japan.
