| Electro Rent (Tianjin) Rental Co., Ltd. Opens its Business in TEDA |

Electro Rent (Tianjin) Rental Co., Ltd., the first solely foreign-owned leasing company in China, recently held an opening ceremony in TEDA.
Electro Rent Corporation, which is listed in the NASDAQ Stock Market and headquartered in California, U.S., owns assets of over 200 million dollars. The business of its operation center covers U.S., Canada and Belgium. In 2004 alone its after-tax net income reached 12 million dollars. Its clients, most of which are Fortune Global 500 corporations, include manufacturers of the electronics, telecommunications, semiconductor and computers products, electronics and telecommunications service organizations, and customers in the aviation manufacturing industry.
Electro Rent Corporation purchases nearly one million dollars worth of new equipment every month. According to the technical level and the market prospect of the equipment, the corporation sets depreciation standards, then lease the equipment to customers, and provide them with related technical guidance and services. Later the corporation sells the equipment when it is not worth leasing. Besides, the corporation engages in the purchase, repurchase and sublease of equipment. Considering the high prices and maintenance charges of testing equipment, and the increasingly shortened cycle of equipment upgrading, enterprises will face too much cost if they purchase equipment. So they generally lease testing equipment to avoid using a large amount of capital, the risk of upgrading equipment and the great expenditure on purchase, storage and maintenance. Therefore, large professional leasing companies with great reputation, e.g. Electro Rent Corporation, become their first preferences.
The leasing industry has developed for nearly half a century in U.S. and played an important role in economic activities. It is estimated that over 60% of engineering machines, airplanes, ships, various vehicles, medical apparatus, telecommunications and information equipment, etc. are sold through leasing. However, the leasing industry has just started in China, containing great business potential. It is estimated by insiders that when China¡¯s leasing market is fully opened, it may create revenues of over one trillion yuan and profit of over 100 billion yuan. |
