Taiding (Tianjin) Environment Technology Co., Ltd. got officially registered with the Chemical Industrial Park of TEDA a few days ago. It specializes in the harmless treatment of electronic and industrial wastes to transform them into resources. It was jointly established by Taiwan Jiin Yeeh Ding Enterprise Corp., Shanghai Icon Electronic System Engineering Co., Ltd., and Tianjin Lvtong Environmental Production Engineering Apparatus Research Co., Ltd. with a total investment of 100 million yuan, a registered capital of 50 million yuan, and an area of 19,000 square meters. Its plan is to commence the construction in April, finish the construction in September, and commence production in November of 2005. It is expected that its capacity of electronic waste treatment is 30,000 tons every year.

The newly established company will play a significant role in promoting the establishment of the recycle system in China¡¯ mainland, development of circular economy, and sustainable industrial development.

Cappelle, one of the world¡¯s top 500 enterprises from Belgium, signed the land transfer contract with the General Corporation of the Chemical Industrial Park of TEDA a few days ago, which means one more multinational company of the world, Cappelle Pigments (Tianjin) Ltd., is coming to the Park. This company will construct a pigment manufacturing base of 70,000 square meters with an investment of 80 million dollars. With an investment of 12.5 million dollars and an area of 30,000 square meters, phase I of the project is expected to be capable of an annual output of 5,000 tons.

Recently the JV has signed a leasing contract for factory buildings of 1,900 square meters with General Corporation of the Microelectronic Industrial Park. The event shows the formal settlement of the company in the park.

As the largest maintenance facility for Motorola mobile phones in China, Tianjin Feihongdali Telecommunications Technology Co., Ltd. at present supports nearly one hundred rapid maintenance centers for Motorola mobile phones across the country and undertakes over 70% of after-sale services for Motorola mobile phones.

POSCO of South Korea held a grand foundation stone laying ceremony for the second factory of POSCO (Tianjin) in TEDA a few days ago. With an investment of 5 million dollars, an area of 12,000 square meters, and an annual output capacity of 60,000 tons, the new factory is expected to be completed and go into operation in November this year. It will focus on the processing of such high quality steel products as cold rolled stainless steel, electrical steel, and color steel. With the construction of the second factory of POSCO (Tianjin), TEDA will gradually become POSCO¡¯s processing, logistics, and marketing base for stainless steel in North China.

ITT (Tianjin) Electronic Components Company Limited has recently held a foundation laying ceremony for its new facility in Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area.

Based in the New York State of the U.S., ITT Industries, Inc. was founded in 1920. As a major supplier of products and services related to national defense communications, optoelectronics, information technology, etc., ITT Industries possesses 274 factories and R&D institutes in 135 countries worldwide and had its sales over 6.8 billion dollars in 2004.

It is introduced that the new company of ITT Industries will cover a very large area of 70,000 square meters. Employing globally advanced R&D and experiment facilities, the company will produce smart switches in addition to its current products of electronic keys and keypads. And its business will involve the manufacturing of electronic components for computers, automobiles and communication products. With its first-phase factory occupying 18,000 square meters, the company is expected to commence its formal operation in 2006. Mr. Mark Steele, President of ITT Industries-China said that the new plant is an important strategic move of ITT Industries for its investment increase in China, and with the setting up of the new company, Tianjin will become an important base for ITT Industries¡¯ purchasing, and production and R&D worldwide.

China First Heavy Industries established Tianjin National Heavy Industries Research & Development Center in TEDA a few days ago. It means the heavy manufacturing industry of China will have its own comprehensive R&D center of authority.

The laboratories of this R&D Center will be constructed on land of 35,000 square meters. With a total investment of 181 million yuan, this project mainly includes the construction of the Welding Laboratory, Welding Technique Laboratory, Heat Engineering Laboratory, Physical and Chemical Analysis Laboratory, Fluid Laboratory, Electric Drive and Control Laboratory, Mill Laboratory, and supporting office and public power facilities. TEDA will be the key construction site of this R&D Center and five of its laboratories and its management center are set up here in TEDA.

Electro Rent Corporation of U.S. recently established Electro Rent (Tianjin) Rental Co., Ltd. in TEDA. The new company is the first solely foreign-owned leasing one in China after the Ministry of Commerce promulgated Measures for Administration of Foreign Investment in the Leasing Industry.

According to authoritative data, in the developed countries over 60% of engineering machines, planes, ships, vehicles, medical equipment, communication and information equipment, etc. are sold by means of lease.
