Recently, the signing ceremony of a land transfer contract between the Chemical Industrial Park General Corporation of TEDA and Tianjin Toho Lead Recycling Co., Ltd. (Tianjin Toho) was held in TEDA. This project has successfully mended the domestic technological gap of waste storage battery recycle and thus made Tianjin Toho the first international supplier of green recycled lead in China.

Registering a total investment of 4.75 million US dollars, Tianjin Toho covers an area of 20,000 square meters. Its main facilities are expected to be completed by late October, 2005, with an annual recycled lead alloy production capacity of 12,000 tons. Its main products include recycled lead antimony alloy and recycled lead calcium alloy, and will be used as chemical materials and for storage battery production.

The opening ceremony of Chr. Hansen (Tianjin) Food Ingredient Co., Ltd. was recently held in TEDA. Mr. Ai Yamin, Vice Chairman of TEDA Administrative Commission, Mr. Mikaelsen, Danish ambassador to China, and Mr. Boeg Hansen, Vice President of the Chr. Hansen Group attended the ceremony.

When addressing the ceremony Mr. Ai Yamin first of all extended his congratulations to Chr. Hansen (Tianjin) Food Ingredient Co., Ltd. on behalf of TEDA Administrative Commission. He said that TEDA had always been in very good cooperation with Danish enterprises for 20 years since its foundation. Companies such as Novozymes and Novo Nordisc are enjoying very good development in TEDA. With the best services from all departments of TEDA for the development of the company, he wished Chr. Hansen more and more prosperous operations here in TEDA.

According to relevant information, Chr. Hansen (Tianjin) Food Ingredient Co., Ltd. was established in TEDA in July 2004 with a registered capital of 8 million yuan. It focuses on the production of food ingredients such as natural colors and cultures.

Recently a ground-breaking ceremony of Cabot Chemical (Tianjin) Co., Ltd., a joint venture of Cabot (China) Investment Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Coking & Chemical Corporation, was held in the Chemical Industrial Park of TEDA. Mr. Kennett F. Burnes, Chairman of the Board, President and CEO of Cabot Corporation, and others were present at the ceremony.

Occupying an area of about 200,000 square meters in its initial phase and planning to make a first-phase investment of 28 million dollars, the company aims at constructing a first-class production line with a production capacity of 61,000 tons of various quality carbon black products used for rubber. After its expected operations in January 2006, the production line will have the biggest production capacity of quality carbon black in the world. And the two investors of the new company expressed their intention to build the company into the world¡¯s largest quality carbon black production base.

The LG Bohai Chemical VCM/EDC project (Tianjin LG Bohai Chemical Company Limited) officially received approval from the Ministry of Commerce on January 24. With a registered capital of 100 million dollars and a total investment of 300 million dollars, this is the first big project with its investment reaching 100 million dollars introduced to TEDA in 2005. After going into production, this project will be capable of an annual output of 350,000 tons of VCM, 300,000 tons of EDC, and 240,000 tons of caustic soda. This project surely will play a very active role in further improving the petrochemical industrial chain of the New Coastal District of Tianjin and promoting the development of relevant industries.

Mando Industrial Co., Ltd. of South Korea has established in TEDA its fourth branch company in China. The newly established company, Mando Tianjin Automotive Parts Co., Ltd. officially signed the land contract with TEDA on January 10.

Mando is the biggest auto part manufacturer of South Korea. With a total investment of 48.768 million dollars, the new company in TEDA is to focus on the production of the braking system, steering system, damping system, and key parts for the ABS system. The new factory will be built in Yat-sen Scientific Industrial Park of TEDA with an area of 45,000 square meters. Phase I of the project is to focus on production of die-cast parts for the braking system. The construction of the factory and the installation and testing of all equipment will be completed within this year. The factory will start its batch manufacturing in January 2006. It is expected to be capable of an annual output of 33,000 tons of die-cast parts by 2010.
