On May 10th, led by Mr. Dai Xianglong, Vice Secretary of Tianjin Municipal Party Committee and Mayor of Tianjin Municipal Government, Tianjin Delegation held Promotion Summit for Developing and Opening Tianjin Binhai New District (hereinafter referred as Binhai New District) in UK, on which Mr. Dai Xianglong delivered the main speech. In the speech of Mr. Dai Xianglong, the significant purpose for promoting the developing and opening of Binhai New District to be national strategy, was set forth in the all-around way, and the development advantages, functional position and major policies of Binhai New District were introduced specifically by him. During the visiting, Mr. Dai Xianglong also met respectively with Mr. Andrew Cahn, Vice Director of Department of Trade and Industry of UK, Mr. Powell, President of CBBC, and Mr. Mayor elect of City of London Stewart; talked with the chief officers of more than 10 multinational enterprises, such as HSBC, Standard Charter Bank, EDS, GSK, Standard Life Insurance, Joy Global Mining Machinery Company etc. The activities have arouse great influence in various levels of London, with active feedback and response.
Mr. Dai Xianglong introduced the development blueprint of Tianjin Binhai New District and updated business opportunities to various people in UK, and pointed out that including the developing and opening of Tianjin Binhai New District into the development strategic layout of the whole country, is required to establish and realize the scientific concept of development, to promote the harmonious regional development. With various comprehensive advantages, after many years hard working, Binhai New District has achieved the capacity to drive the regional economic development. We will plan and construct Binhai New District according to the scientific concept of development with being human-oriented, and on one hand we will learn the experience of Shenzhen Special Economic Zone and Shanghai Pudong New Area, on the other hand, we will conduct the different and creative method according to the actual situation and current conditions of Tianjin, to drive and provide better service to the regional economic development.
During the visiting in London, Mr. Dai Xianglong was interviewed jointly by the media such as Financial Times, Euromoney, International Finance, Foreign Direct Investment etc., to response on the questions concerning modern manufacturing development, environment protection and ecological construction in Binhai New District. The media conference was held by Mr. He Ronglin, the Secretary-General of Tianjin Municipal Government.
After the successful visiting in UK, Tianjin Delegation left London on May 14th, for Paris, the Capital of France. In Paris, Mr. Dai Xianglong was invited to deliver the special speech in Paris Committee of Commerce attracted a lot of attention in commercial and industrial field of France. During that period of time, the comments published by Nouvelles D'europe, says that it is possible that the new "Popular & Favorite Tianjin" is going to be arouse in Europe land. According to the introduction of Mayor Dai Xianglong, the promotion projects of Tianjin included 6 major fields such as port, manufacturing, service, environment protection, small-medium sized company cooperation and traveling etc. Mayor Dai Xianglong indicated that there is a fairly broad future for Tianjin development, and Tianjin Binhai New District will certainly offer immense business opportunities for the investors. He sincerely invited more investors in France to develop their business in Tianjin, and especially, with many years hard working in France, overseas Chinese and students in France have accumulated great and strong economic capacity, advanced technology and management experience, what are exactly demanded by the development of Tianjin Binhai New District.
Tianjin plays an important role in the relationship between France and China. At present, the companies invested by French multinational enterprises has been 150, including Total, BNP Paribas, Auchan, Carrefour etc., with accumulative investment of 250 million USD. In 2005, the import and export value between Tianjin and France is 700 million USD, with 50% growth rate. Well-know brand name in China, Dynasty is not only one of the first foreign invested companies, but also the first joint-venture in Tianjin, who starting from 2 million USD investment 20 years ago, achieved more than 600 million USD market value when publicly listed in Hong Kong stock market.
