Brief Introduction
 

SGEF ¡¯04 was held on May 23rd in Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area (TEDA). More than 300 people including experts and scholars from financial and business circle of both China and Germany, entrepreneurs from multinational giants and medium-small size enterprises, and representatives from financial and economic medias attended the forum.

Mr. Zhang Lichang, member of the Central Political Bureau of CPC and Secretary of Tianjin Commission of CPC, sent a letter to congratulate the convening of the forum. Mr. Wu Chunhe¡ªdirector of Economic Daily, Mr. Long Yongtu¡ªSecretary-General of Boao Asian Forum, Mr. Xie Fuzhan¡ªVice-chairman of Development and Research Center of the State Council, Mr. Chen Jiagui¡ªVice-president of Chinese Academy of Social Science, Mr. Ai Feng¡ªVice-chairman of Chinese Enterprises¡¯ League, Mr. Xu Bingjin¡ªChairman of Sino-Europe Economic and Technological Association, Mr. Feng Bing¡ªChief editor of Economic Daily, Mr. Tichauer¡ªChief editor of German magazine ¡°The Window to China¡±, Walter¡ªChief economist of Dutch Bank, Fan Gang¡ªfamous economist, and Wei Xin¡ªChairman of Founder Group attended the Forum. Mr. Pi Qiansheng, standing member of the Tianjin Committee of CPC and chairman of the New Coastal Area of Tianjin, hosted the opening ceremony and welcomed the precious guests on behalf of the Tianjin Committee of CPC, Tianjin Government and the sponsor, TEDA. Other government officials, expert/ scholars, entrepreneurs attending the Forum include: Fan Hengshan, Dai Genyou, Li Wei-an, Li Yiping, Tan Yalin, Liu Xiaoguang, Sun Hongbin, etc.

Theme of the Forum: Lead the development¡ªTransnational Cooperation and Growth Opportunities for Enterprises

Topic 1: Forum for Manufacturing Industry: Transnational Growth¡ª¡°Made in China¡± and
¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡ ¡°Made in Germany¡±


¡°Made in Germany¡± will play a significant role on the stage of Chinese Market and manufacturing industry. ¡°Made in China¡± will also constantly strengthen its advantages and brands. This is not only a great opportunity for big manufacturers, but also an new opportunity for the two countries to cooperate with each other.
Basic subjects:

  1. Transnational manufacturing industry under the principle of original place of production;
  2. Transnational acquisition of Chinese and German enterprises;
  3. Strengthen and transfer of brands;
  4. How to realize the changing and upgrading of models for processing trade;
  5. How can medium-small sized enterprises be a part of the value chain of transnational companies;
  6. Comparison of Sino-foreign company administration.

Topic 2: Financial Forum: Investment and Financing Environment for Companies

Financial is being more and more important to the growth of the companies and areas. Simultaneously, the reform in the financial world is touching the problems deep inside. How can Tianjin become a new financial center?
Basic subjects:

  1. Possibility and opportunity for foreign investment banks joining the restructure of Chinese state-owned commercial banks
  2. Further encouragement on private and foreign capital to enter the banking industry
  3. Consummate the forming mechanism for Renminbi exchange rate
  4. Can Tianjin become a new regional financial center

Topic 3: Regional Development Forum: ¡°Ocean Delta¡± Major engine for the Bohai Bay
¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡ Economic Circle


China¡¯s reform and opening up to the outside world was pushed from the south to the north. While the Cantonese region raised a theory of ¡°Pan-Pearl River Delta¡±, and the ¡°Yangzi-River-Delta¡± was also extending the endosome of regional cooperation, the region around Bohai Bay is becoming another key region for foreign investment and regional economic development. For the purpose of speeding up the construction of the Bohai Bay Economic Circle, the region needs a more specific orientation, and a perfect micro supporting structure for the internal cooperation in the region. The ¡°Ocean Delta¡± has been vividly portrayed as the principle tache for the circle.

The leading actor for Sino-Germany business cooperation changed from big companies to small companies. Are the investment environment and policies favorable for medium and small sized German companies? How can the medium and small sized German companies enter the Chinese market?

  1. Joint of Chinese laws and regulations with the WTO rules is favorable for enhancing the Sino-foreign economic and technological cooperation
  2. Implementation of the Law of Administrative Licensing is favorable for optimizing the environment for foreign investment
  3. The upgrading of Chinese industries is favorable for further development for foreign companies and joint of foreign and Chinese industries
  4. German companies in China
  5. Chinese companies in Germany
