Basic Facts Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area (TEDA for short), is pronounced as Taida in Chinese.
Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area

As one of the first state-level economic and technological development zones, TEDA was founded on December 6, 1984, with the approval of the State Council. It enjoys relevant state preferential policies with the major task to attract domestic and foreign investment to develop high and new technology oriented modern industries.
As an affiliated organ of the Tianjin Municipal Government, the Administrative Commission of Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area exercises unified administration of TEDA on behalf of the Tianjin Municipal Government and enjoys provincial-level administrative and economic management rights.

Three Industrial Parks In accordance with the need of development and with the approval of the Tianjin Municipal Government, the TEDA Administrative Commission established three industrial parks with their own unique characteristics beyond the original planned area, namely the Microelectronics Industrial Park of TEDA situated to the south of Tianjin proper, Yat-sen Scientific and Industrial Park of TEDA situated in the middle section of Beijing-Tianjin-Tanggu Expressway, and Chemical Industrial Park of TEDA in Hangu District of Tianjin. These three industrial parks, under direct administration of the TEDA Administrative Commission, enjoy preferential policies similar to those of TEDA and provide more opportunities to domestic and foreign investors to make investment and choose site locations.
Western Zone Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area is propelling land expansion. The newly expanded area-- the Western Zone of TEDA, 18 km to the west of TEDA, is situated between Tianjin Port and Tianjin International Airport, with an area of 48 km2.
Export Processing Zone In Apr 2000, with the approval of the State Council, Tianjin Export Processing Zone was established with a planned area of 2.54 km2 (of which the initial developed area is 1 km2). As one of the first 15 state-level export processing zones, Tianjin Export Processing Zone enjoys various preferential policies granted by the State like highly efficient and speedy customs supervision procedures, flexible and convenient foreign exchange control systems and taxation incentives with outstanding advantages, and encourages investors from home and abroad to engage in the processing trade in the zone.
